As I write this article, I’m thinking about how good the wontons were. Yes, girl! The texture of the pork, the crunch of the wonton, and the overall product is OH SO GOOD! Dip it in sweet and sour sauce, and you have THE WHOLE PACKAGE! Alright, I’ll stop. I’m supposed to be going over the process of making everything, right? Let me get right into it before I forget again.
So the wonton soup was the first thing made. The first step was the wontons. Obviously the filling was made first. The pork, soy sauce, green onions– oh my lord! Look at that filling! You can already tell it was going to be good! And the shape, look at the shape! My mom really is a talented cook!

Next thing up was making the broth! Chicken broth, ginger, more soy sauce, and a couple of cloves of garlic were added. From the picture of just those ingredients, it looks like nothing. Of course it’s nothing… until the wontons come into play! Once those wontons were cooked, there was a big difference. Oh my god! Look at that pot!

Though speaking of pots, I forgot about the white rice. Although, I have explained how it was made in past articles. Though we don’t normally cook it a day ahead of time anymore.
Anyways, the next thing made was the Honey Sesame Chicken. They were cut into bite-sized portions (Duh!) before they were seasoned. I’ve talked about seasoning chicken before. Due to the sauce later coming into play, a fair amount of salt and pepper was good. Then the chicken was coated in cornstarch and fried.
Next, the sauce was made. Though this time, that was cooked in a small pot instead of a large pan. After the sauce simmered for a few minutes, it was time to add the chicken! Once you stir in the chicken cubes and let them sit for a few minutes, dinner is ready! It’s so bad that I didn’t get a picture of the pot, but LOOK at the final outcome! Don’t you want to eat this? You know you do!

The broth had a low-key yet satisfying flavor, the wontons were great, the Honey Sesame Chicken was savory, and oh my goodness! So, so good! The wonton soup even looks like the pictures in the recipe linked below! And so do the wontons pre-boiling stage!
My mother does make changes during the cooking process. So if you try making these recipes at home, please feel free to tailor it to your liking. You’re supposed to enjoy what you cook, so put thought into what you make.
Speaking of which, I taste the wontons in my mouth. None are actually in my mouth, but that is a call to go heat some up! Let me go into the kitchen now!
