As you could tell from my article about my favorite fashion designers, I love looking at evening gowns and other elaborate pieces. Though this time, I will cover my favorite evening gowns from beauty pageants. I have liked beauty pageants in the past. I complain about them at times (don’t get me started), but I can’t help but admire the evening gowns of some of the contestants. Here comes a few of my favorites!
Catriona Gray- Miss Universe 2018 (Preliminary Gown)
Catriona is honestly my style icon. I mentioned her lava gown in the article about fashion designers, but I admire this gown too. Inspired by the Ibong Adarna bird (which is mythical), this gown is truly something different. It was created by Mak Tumang, who is one of my favorite designers ever. Cat sported it during the Miss Universe 2018 preliminary competition. I would totally get this dress, but I would want the colors to be blue and green to make it reminiscent of a peacock. Nevertheless, Cat and Mak really did something here. But then again, they did a lot of things. Catriona’s mind and Mak’s creativity are incredible!
Natalie Ortega- Miss Universe 2019 (Preliminary Gown)

I watched Miss Universe 2019, and even months later, I’m still puzzled on why Natalie did not place in the top 20. She was absolutely gorgeous and I loved her overall presentation. Her lavender gown made by Michael Cinco totally worked on her and blended in with her skin tone. She was one of my favorites and I would’ve put her forward. The dress, hair, and everything else made her a 10/10 in my book.
Somnang Alyna- Miss Universe 2019 (Preliminary Gown)

This dress was worn by Miss Cambodia 2019 Somnang Alyna. When I saw this gown during a video of the preliminaries, I immediately fell in love. Created by Rian Fernandez, this dress is really intricate. The style is gorgeous, the jewels are appealing, and it’s one of my favorite evening gowns ever.
Kelin Rivera- Miss Universe 2019 (Preliminary and Finals Gown)
Let me say that I loved Kelin at Miss Universe. She was one of my favorites of all the girls. She looked stunning and was one I definitely loved to watch. Her gown was created by Maritza Mendoza Studio, and it worked on her so well. I would’ve loved her as a Miss Universe for sure.
Demi-Leigh Tebow- Winner of Miss Universe 2017 (Final Walk Gown)

Demi-Leigh Tebow (née Nel-Peters) was crowned Miss Universe 2017. When she was about to crown Catriona Gray at Miss Universe 2018, she came out in a stunning green gown that sparkled and shined. Created by Gert-Johan Coetzee, it contains 100,000 Swarovski crystals. It looked amazing and it is definitely the best final walk gown I have ever seen.
Jolene Marie Cholock Rontinsulu- Miss International 2019 (Finals Gown)
All of the gowns mentioned so far are from Miss Universe, but I will go off the path a bit to shoutout a gown that was worn on Miss International. Miss Jolene wore a really nice white gown created by Anaz. The external part of the gown was quite odd, but the overall product was still appealing. I think some white gowns look nice in general, and I would be here for seeing a bridal gown on a pageant stage. But back on topic, white definitely worked on Jolene.
Samantha Bernardo- Binibining Pilipinas 2018 (Finals Gown)
The last gown I will mention here is a Patty Ang gown worn by Samantha during the Binibining Pilipinas competition. It looks so elegant! The color, style, cape, and overall presentation made her really stand out in a sea of contestants. I would absolutely wear this gown, possibly in a different color, but the design is still drop-dead gorgeous.
Keep in mind that the gowns shown are only a few of my favorites. I definitely have more favorites and I will share them in future articles. I’m not into shopping for fashion, but I love talking about stunning evening gowns and other pieces. I have not forgotten to make a part 2 of my favorite fashion designers, which will be coming in the near future. Be sure to keep an eye out for that!
