After our Puerto Rican adventure, I knew exactly what I wanted to try next. I had been thinking about getting a taste of Korean food for a little while. It seemed like something I would enjoy, so I was interested in trying it out. On a Sunday evening, my dad, Nicole, and I went to a Korean restaurant to try the food out.
Walking into the restaurant, I was super excited for the experience. I already knew what I wanted, but we ordered appetizers first. The appetizers we ordered were Fried Dumplings and Shrimp Shumai. They were good, and the sauce complimented the individual pieces of food very well. We also received the banchan (Korean side dishes), which had things like kimchi, green beans, and potato salad served on small plates.
I was so happy when it arrived at the table, because I really wanted to try the banchan. I had done research on Korean food ahead of time, and the banchan was something I really wanted to try, so being able to try it made me so happy! The banchan was really good, and the kimchi was my favorite of the side dishes. As a matter of fact, I wish I could have more kimchi, because while it had a little heat, it was tasty.
As for the entrée, the dish I had was Beef Bulgogi. It was fairly good, but the flavor reminded me of beef jerky that came from the store. Nevertheless, I ate just about all of it, and I like beef jerky, so the flavor didn’t really bother me.
If given the opportunity, I would absolutely eat Korean food again! It was good and it raised my interest in Korean culture. It might actually be my favorite of the cuisines I’ve tried so far in this series. The kimchi is on my mind as I write this. I had the option of cooking the meat like you do in many Korean BBQ restaurants, but I didn’t do that. I might do it next time though.
Have you ever tried Korean cuisine?
